The company VIVEROS ALCANAR S.A.T. 2 CAT was formed in 1969 in the city of Alcanar (Tarragona). The production areas are mainly located between the north of Castellón and the south of Tarragona, areas that have traditionally been the main production and supply zone for certified citrus seedlings throughout the Peninsula.

The soil and climate conditions of the area, together with the accumulated and transmitted experience from generation to generation, have allowed the seedlings to meet optimal characteristics, thus ensuring that subsequent transplantation has a total guarantee of success.

Since its origin, VIVEROS ALCANAR S.A.T. 2 CAT has focused on high quality in its seedlings and a guarantee of the health of the material used. They collaborate very actively with all the official bodies of the Valencian and Catalan Administration, where they carry out all the necessary controls and certifications to ensure that the seedlings meet all the requirements established by the administrations. The entire citrus seedling production cycle, from seed sowing to the dispatch of finished plants, takes place under protective mesh to prevent the entry of disease-carrying insect vectors, under “insect proof” conditions.

In addition, VIVEROS ALCANAR S.A.T. 2 CAT is part of the Agrupación de Viveristas de Agris (AVASA), which is dedicated to the research and introduction of new citrus varieties. They collaborate with the Valencian Institute of Agricultural Research (IVIA) to achieve the best result of the plant material and ensure maximum control of it, in order to transmit it to farmers with the greatest security.

All this great effort has allowed VIVEROS ALCANAR S.A.T. 2 CAT to be the largest citrus seedling producer in the country and one of the largest in the world today.
