- ICL presents the new pre-emergence granular herbicide PotClean Ultra 1G for ornamental plants in containers or in soil.
The elimination of invasive weeds in production substrates or cultivation soils is one of the most important tasks in the nursery due to its cost and difficulty. The use of a herbicide that inhibits seed germination and is ready to apply offers the best solution for saving time and maintaining cleanliness in production.
ICL has been working to meet the needs of the ornamental plant segment in containers and now offers a new pre-emergence granular herbicide, PotClean Ultra 1G — a solution designed to improve the available tools for the effective control of weeds in nursery pots, one of the most demanding daily operations.
PotClean Ultra 1G is a pre-emergence granular herbicide designed to control the most important weeds in ornamental crops. It is formulated for use on any growing medium—such as plug trays, pots, and containers—or for plants grown directly in the ground. It is developed from the active ingredient oxyfluorfen, which belongs to the nitro-diphenyl ether chemical family. Its mode of action inhibits the activity of the enzyme protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO) at the moment of germination, targeting annual and perennial broadleaf weeds. As a result, it controls weeds such as: Amaranthus retroflexus, Cardamina hirsuta, Euphorbia moteada, Epiilobium ciliatum, Oxalis corniculata, Poa anual, Verdolaga, Estelar mediana y Senecio común.
Its main benefits for nursery professionals include effective control of both grasses and broadleaf weeds; being a ready-to-use, dust-free granular herbicide; its long-lasting and persistent action; its safety, ease of use, and suitability for both potted and in-ground plants; as well as its high preventive efficacy and selectivity.
